Onam is here.....Does anyone care?

Seemed like it for the past few days, I can remember my post last year where I typed similiar things. But really, who has the energy or time to really prep for Onam in the 21st Century? I don't. For me, and that is especially this year, I treated it like any off day - actually today is the real Onam and I was working, but I was off yesterday. I got up like any other day and it started out almost like any other day.

Last evening, since I was off, I slept late and watch tv for the remainder of the morning and around 1:00 pm took a bath before lunch. I dediced to just spend a couple of hours on the net and then come home to listen to my cds. However, fate intervened in the form of a call from my cousin's cellphone, as I was just about to leave the apartment.

Kannanchettan, called while he was at his lunch break at his office, which is just a 10 minute walk away from my apartment. He said, if I wasn't doing anything that evening to come out for a while. I said sure, that I would be wherever he wanted. Around 5:30 ish we met outside Seematti and on his bike went to Rama Varma Club and had a split 5 beers with a few bites between ourselves. We kept talking about the changes in all our lives and what pisses us off about them, our familes and relatives who do this and that and grumble at others. It was a good evening, he had to leave by 7:30, so I walked back to the apartment.
