And The Sens Go Marching

The NHL season is about a third over and we know who the contenders are - at the very top of that list sits the very impressive Ottawa Senators. The Senators are my team, the team I started supporting in the NHL from the very beginning of my love affair with hockey. It's not easy being a lonely NHL fan in India. I mostly get the scores & news from highlights shown on ESPN & BBC plus on TEN Sports more properly they will highlight the best game of the week on the show 'Gillette World Sports'. Otherwise it's the internet to the rescue and ofcourse friends I have made online - mostly from Canada & the US but there is the odd person in Finland & Russia. Anyway, I am very pleased about the way the season is going so far for the Sens. The inclusion of Dany Heatly in the squad has benifitted both the team as well as the player. As most people know, Dany was involved in a car crash during the summer break of the 2002-2003 season. In the crash Heatley was injured and his friend & teammate Dan Snyder was killed. While Heatley recupperated he also stood trial for inadvertly causing the death of Snyder, but even the late hockey player's family came to Dany's defence. The move from his former club, the Atlanta Thrashers, was something that he himself asked for. Add to this is the emergence of Jason Spezza as a big time player, plus the brillaint play of Daniel Alfredsson, Vaclav Varada, Znedo Chara, Wade Redden and ofcourse solid goalkeeping by Dominic hasek assisted ablely by Ray Emery. The Sens will be title contenders and hopefuly this will be their year. GO SENS GO!!
